About Bro. Mark Alterman
Mark Alterman is a Spirit-filled Jewish
Evangelist/Missionary with over 30 years in full-time
ministry. Mark was raised in an orthodox Jewish home in the
city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1965, while he was an
undergraduate student at Temple University in Philadelphia,
he saw a motion picture entitled "The Greatest Story Ever
Told." This film made a great impression upon him and he
began to study the New Testament, a book that Jews do not
read or even recognize. By the leading of the Holy Spirit,
Mark met Dr. Harry Bristow, a pioneer in the industry of
Christian film production. Dr. Bristow operated a theater
called "Christian Cinema" in Glenside, Pennsylvania. He
invited Mark to visit the theater. That night they showed
the film, The Robe." At the end of the film, Dr. Bristow
gave a strong altar call and in that moment, Mark realized
that he was a lost sinner and that Jesus Christ was the true
Messiah! |

Despite great persecution from his
family, Mark continued in his new found faith and soon met Rev Monty
Garfield who was also a converted Jew and an Assemblies of God
minister. At a prayer meeting in Rev Garfield's livingroom, Mark
was gloriously baptized in the Holy Ghost.
Mark not only graduated from Temple University, but did graduate
work at some of the finest Jewish colleges of higher learning. He
wanted to learn as much as possible about the Hebrew language,
Jewish history, the Talmud and the Hebrew Bible so that he could
intelligently minister to his own people and train Christians in
this important mission field. Mark did graduate work at the Dropsie
University of Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia. Dropsie
University is named after Moses Aaron Dropsie, a wealthy
philanthropist in the early 1900's. He left his fortune to
establish this school as the premier center for Jewish scholarship
in America. Dropsie University was the first place where the Dead
Sea Scrolls were deciphered and dated.
Mark studied under such renown
scholars as Theodore Gaster (see Wikipedia), Solomon Zeitland (world
authority on the intertestamental period) and Dr Solomon Grayzel,
world famous Jewish historian and president of the Jewish
Publication Society. He also studied under Dr Morton Enslin, who
formerly taught New Testament at Crozer Seminary. Dr Enslin was the
New Testament professor of Martin Luther King who attended that
school.
Mark preaches about the Jews and their traditions with a REAL
AUTHENTIC KNOWLEDGE. Bro Mark preaches about the LIBERTY we have in
Jesus Christ and does not try to put Christians under some kind of
legalistic bondage. His message is about the true liberty we have in
Jesus Christ.
Mark has preached in at least 2000 Assemblies of God churches, in at
least 900 Church of God, 100 Pentecostal Holiness, 400 Church of God
in Christ as well as in numerous Full Gospel and non-denominational
churches. For many years, he has been a featured speaker for the
Full Gospel Businessmen and Aglow. He was a featured speaker at
Jesus 78, 80 and 93 where over 25,000 people attended. He was on
the same program with Benny Hinn, Amy Grant, Keith Green, and Rex
Humbard.
Mark's ministry has been featured on the Trinity Broadcasting
Network. He was on the PTL (Charlotte, NC) at least 10 times and
preached at the tabernacle at Heritage USA. Bro R. W. Schambach
featured Bro Mark in his POWER MAGAZINE and his testimony has been
featured in such magazines as The Pentecostal Evangel, Charisma,
etc. Brother Mark's ministry is in constant demand and he receives
over 700 invitations a year to minister in churches. |
